Construct your own jaguar mask at Barnsdall Arts Sunday. The ancient Maya worshiped the mysterious and powerful jaguar as a god. The figure of the jaguar figures prominently in Mayan art.  In the chamber at the top of the sacred temple of Chitchen-Itza is the famous jaguar bench where ritual human sacrifice took place. Jaguar masks imbued their wearers with special powers.
