Small pleasures, small pleasures, who will deny us these?

It's a fine life, and what makes it fine are the little things--the small pleasures that delight us and put a smile on our faces. When considering what art to include in a show, I consider the space and the context: the Booklovers' Gourmet is a wonderful place--a cozy, quirky, old-fashioned owner-run bookstore filled floor-to-ceiling with books, toys, and art; it invites browsing or hunkering down with a cup of coffee and a pastry--the small pleasures in life that make it worth living. Consequently, the art in this show is on the diminutive side both in price and size...portraits of cupcakes, donuts, fruit tarts, and candy-colored cats...minor indulgences that won't break the bank or make you fat. I invite you wander through the stacks of books, sip a cup of coffee, and sample the goodies. Why not take two, they're small!
